Not long after launching All About Wildlife, we began to notice that the kids who visited our site tended to be more interested in food-chain-related questions than anything else. Specifically, they wanted to know What Eats What, and Who Eats Whom. It didn’t take us long to realize we needed to start a separate wildlife website, specifically for kids . . .
Introducing WhatEats.com, An Entertaining & Educational Food Web Website Just For Kids
Today marks the official launch of What Eats? (WhatEats.com), a new wildlife website that, unlike All About Wildlife, is just for kids—though their parents and teachers will enjoy it, too.
While All About Wildlife focuses on all aspects of wildlife science, from behaviour to population trends to biochemistry, the kids who visit us are usually interested in a handful of questions they have about animals in the wild. They tend to be especially curious about food chains and food webs—specifically, what fish, bird, insect or mammal eats what other fish, bird, insect or mammal. Because of this, we decided to start a separate, “sister” website where kids could get their “what eats what” and “who eats whom” questions answered easily, accurately and entertainingly.
The result is What Eats? (WhatEats.com), The Food Web Website for Kids. Each colorful page has two search boxes in which kids can type in the name of an animal, hit enter, and learn what predators, or natural enemies, that animal needs to be on the lookout for.
